The Shock of the Real McDonalds in Prague was funded by the Italian and Czech Republic Ministries of Foreign Affairs and supported by FAMU University in Prague. The project consisted in recording the memories of people from different generations regarding the city of Prague before and during the fall of the Berlin Wall and the opening of the country to the capitalistic system. At that time the city of Prague went through a functional and aesthetic transformation that involved many aspects of social life. My aim was to create an archive of recorded oral and video materials together with historical photographic images corresponding to the place mentioned by the participants. I used the MacDonalds fast food restaurants as the starting points through which to discover the city and interview the participants. The animated documentary presented HERE is an artistic interpretation of the research carried out in Prague as artist in residency at FAMU University.

In Prague I realized a series of site specific interventions. Its documentation has sadly been lost due to the burglary in my studio in 2003.

The photos below document the installation-participatory-immersive performance realized for the event Young Horses at the Jam Factory in London (2001), where participants could see the work The Shock of the Real McDonalds in Prague.
Only two persons could enter the space and watch the documentary 'The Shock of the Real Mac Donalds in Prague' while having a glass of wine and some snacks.
Due to the ethical code of the project I did not take photos of the participants.
