Queering the Rosary is a live art piece consisting of two hours and half recitation of the rosary prayer to the Virgin Mary using the prayer bead string made by the artist Giovanni Porfido. This prayer bead string is entirely made of wool with each bead resembling human testicles. The object queers the recitation of the rosary in embodiment in connection to sexual energy. The atmosphere delivered is inspired by my six moths residency in the village of Monte Milone in the region of Basilicata, South of Italy. During this period I often could hear and sometime see groups of women all dressed in black with their faces covered by transparent veil reciting for hours and hours the rosary prayer under the light of few candle lights. These were visions from another time, highly sensual that had a great impact on my imagination.
